Nick Kliewer’s practice focuses on intellectual property matters, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation. A U.S. Army veteran, Nick brings his military values of dedication, commitment, and competence to bear as he fights for his clients. As a registered patent attorney, Nick has both prosecuted new patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and successfully contested and defended patents in proceedings such as Inter Partes Reviews, which challenge the validity of issued patents before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Nick has represented clients from international companies to small IP owners, both as a defender against accusations of IP infringement as well as a protector of his client’s important IP against would-be infringers. Nick has experience litigating in a wide variety of venues throughout the country, including successfully arguing before federal courts in Texas, Delaware, New York, New Mexico, and Nevada.

Nick’s experience also extends to transactional matters, including IP portfolio due diligence and counseling in a variety of intellectual property matters. He has been recognized as a Rising Star in Intellectual Property by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers.

Before starting his legal career, Nick worked for over a decade as an electrical design and applications engineer for Texas Instruments where he designed and developed complex integrated circuits.

Nick’s background in electrical engineering has helped him effectively litigate various intellectual property cases involving a wide range of technologies including LEDs, image sensors, signal processing algorithms, cryptographic systems, wearable biometric devices, and downhole oilfield devices, to name a few. Nick’s technical background and industry experience allow him to take effective expert depositions and capably prepare both clients and experts for depositions.
